here is the issue, car ran good in practice and qualifying, when out for feature and seemed like it hit a certain point and just will not go any faster. kind of sound like exhaust pipe fell off. motor is getting fuel, it has spark, changed carb and still same problem, also checked clutch and looked good.car will not shut off either not sure if that has anything to do with it. any ideas or suggestions?

kind of sound like exhaust pipe fell off Like Scotty said the diode wire is probably why it won't shut off. The other problem you describe above if the exhaust is tight it sounds like a head gasket. Good Luck.

Bad valve springs. How long has it been since you changed them? When you get into valve float it is like a rev limiter. Typically you can go 10-15 races on a set running 6200 rpm on a track you have to lift. If you like to run more rpm/run on a track that is wide open/ or run alot of valve shims you will greatly reduce the life of the springs and have to change them every 5-8 races.
Be sure to check your lash when you put new springs in. Not sure where you are located but i can change your springs and do a quick pull on the dyno to see how the motor stacks up. PM me for info.
