The revised schedule for the evening of events saw all divisions rolling into the time trialed dashes to set the starting field for the mighty features that were to follow. The Junior Slingshot division kicked-off the main events and the "Stars of Tomorrow" certainly live up to their billing with their talent and tenacity on the speedway. Sonny Strupp began from the pole position by virtue of the invert and wasted no time in establishing himself at the point early on in the going. "Scoot" Taylor Eccles challenged early on and "The Top Dog" Matt Henneforth was holding down the fort in third place. The racers were well behaved as they clicked off lap after lap without incident. In the end it would be Strupp in his Montrose Molders sponsored hot rod earning his second straight trip into the Hamlin Winners Circle. Eccles was the runner-up with Henneforth third, Jared Labagh fourth and Collin DuBois rounding out the top five. "The Bullville Bandit" Tommy Zwart headed up the second five with Ryan Quackenbush, Kyle Dice, Bobby Flood and Tighe Sherlock rounding out the top ten.
With 31 of the top AllStar Slingshots in the country on the Hamlin Speedway grounds, qualifying for the event took on special magnitude as the roster of driving stars is deep in talent. Billy Clark started from the pole with the invert and quickly established the parameters as he opened up a lead on those behind him that were waging a wicked war of their own to break free from each other. "Hot Rod" Rode And "Chargin" Charlie Lawrence lived up to their monikers as they were able to slip through some heavy traffic to take chase after the high flying Clark. Clark was smooth as silk as he led all laps to gain his first win of the 2012 racing season. Rode settled for second with Lawrence in third, Troy Langendoerfer in fourth and fast qualifier "The Rockaway Rocket" Danny Buccafusca nailing down fifth place with a late charge. "Magic Shoes" Mike McLaughlin, "The Mack Attack" Mack Brink, John Rooks Jr, "The Top Dog" Tyler Pirone, and fellow New Yorker Tyler Treacy finalized the top ten that saw all 24 starters completing the entire distance.
The Super Slingers main event saw Charlie Bodine blasting out of the starting gate from his fourth place start at the drop of the green flag to nail down the lead before the field hit turn one and his daring maneuver sent him on his way to winning the feature in only his second outing of the season in his Pranzo's Auto Service chariot. "Double J" Jimmy Johnston was turning faster laps towards the end of the journey but it was too little too late as he settled for runner-up honors. Former Champion Paul Ennes was third with Tommy Vroom Jr hustling hard to the end to score a fourth place finish and and Dale Kober came from 12th starting place to earn a top five finish. Roger Collins, Tom Arntz, John Rooks Sr, Del Howell and Bob Clark completed the top ten.
