In review, the 2008 season saw a great deal of excitement. Kara Chapman took top honors in Rookie Purple, capturing 4 wins along the way. She held off early point leader Dom Rogers by only 17 points. Jared Zionkowski ran a partial schedule, but charged his way to 3rd with 8 wins. Novice Blue once again displayed fierce competition in '08. Dayton Cote earned the crown with 9 wins, taking the title by just 18 markers over Skylar Middendorf. Jay Adams used 10 wins to capture the Jr. Gold championship over Jake Maynard. He copied that feat in SportsKIDS, taking 10 wins for the title over Jake Maynard by only 22 points. Consistency and 5 wins earned Karen Baumunk the Sportswoman championship over 11 time winner Heather Hadlock, while Matt Roberts' 12 wins launched him to SportsMAN accolades over Rob Funk. Despite very disappointing car counts in Adult Caged, Derek Chapman supported the class all season and took the title and 9 wins along the way. Tyler Chapman had a dream season, earning the Lights title with 10 wins over rookie Kayla Wilkins. He also captured the Mediums title with 11 wins over another rookie, Dylan Maynard. Despite being the most competitive division at WVMP, Chapman was able to start the season with 10 straight wins. Keith Atkinson capitalized on his 5 wins to take the heavies championship over Bob Coveney.
Jake Hendershot took all four wins in the “Fountain of Youth” Jr. Slingshot Series, earning that title. Corey McCarthy's 11 wins were more than enough to secure the Slingshot championship in his rookie season. Parker Evans successfully defended his 600cc Microsprint championship over Bob Azarowicz, taking 5 wins in the process. Jordan Tittle dominated the 270cc Microsprints with 11 wins and the championship over Bob Maynard. Tittle also earned the Keystonemicrosprints.com Heat Race Challenge title, with 7 heat race wins over John Zionkowki's 6 heat wins.
As we prepare to close the book on the 2008 season, preparations are already under way for 2009. Various improvements, the most significant being a completely new clay surface, are planned. While most divisions will remain intact, a few will be eliminated and replaced with new ones. The 2009 schedule, division lineup, and rules will all be released as they become finalized.
