Just to update anyone who doesn't follow local Dirt Modified Racing, Rich Tobias collected a solid 6th place finish on the Moody Mile at Syracuse yesterday. He was one of only "4" drivers to show up from Pennsylvania to compete against a field of about 97% NY drivers. A few NJ drivers, I think 1 guy from Conn., and two from Mass., and a few from Canada were also on hand.
The guy has probably raced not even 5 Big Block events this season at Bridgeport, and he can still go up to Syracuse, and compete against many of the best Dirt Modified Drivers there are!
He only ran a few USAC shows this year, and was released from the RW Motorsports Team. I think he kind of showed everyone that he is still very capable of wheeling a racecar, or should I say besides a slingshot which he climbs into one and a while.
Good Job Rich! Peace out, The Sling

Marc, I understand, but being at Syracuse many times I can tell you one thing about a driver, and his way of thinking. NEVER, ever wish a guy good luck before he is going to do battle on one of the fastest Dirt Tracks on the East Coast, it's like the kiss of Death.
Not sticking up for Rich, but like I said, I learned that after telling Brett Hearn the same thing one year, and he looked at my like I was a freaking nut. I said to one of his crew members, what did I say, and he explained to me what I just explained to you.
Peace out, Race Drivers, what a funny bunch of Nuts! The Sling

Never heard of such a thing! I've been around drivers and racing all my life. I was at Syracuse and saw the race. Tobias was impressive .

Hum, well, all I can say is try it with Rich, or Hearn next year if they are running at Syracuse, and see if you get a different response. I know the one I got from Hearn, maybe he just thought I was being a smart a// since I'm a Tobias?
Peace out, The Sling

Rich usually shakes the hand of every driver and wishes them "good luck" before the start of every slingshot tour race that he attends.

I talked to Rich today, he said that he thought you guys were just being funny/kidding with him, that's why he didn't shake hands. He stands by the not shaking of the hands at Syracuse, other then drivers, and officials. He said at that track you have to be focused on the job at hand, and that's finishing the race!
I hope this clears this topic up, enough said. Peace out, Blake Tobias
