Though Mike Feltenberger has done an AWESOME job promoting this division and has days of work in making contact with all of the tracks listed below to showcase us this year ( as well as last year )- is the traveling worth the money and time? Or will you only run your local tracks weekly?

I say NO for the reason of running the WEIKLE tour conflicts with running Hamlins full schedule. Also running the Nationals would be a ongoing cost dilema going from state to state week to week. A extraordinarily sponsored team may be funded enough to make this tour work for them but my work schedule as well as checkbook cannot.

I see 9 nationals races in the northeast alone! Are we still only counting the best 4?

Time and money only permit some of the tour races, you can only do so much. Hat off to Mike for all the work he has put into this , we will do the best can with what we have to support as much as we can.

We gotta keep the big picture in mind when we talk about the tour and national events. Slingshot racing is still very young and its going to take time to grow. As it grows, the regions will be able to support their own national champs and regional tour with drivers from their home area. In the mean time, some of us will make the sacrifices to support when needed. I ran 12 races last year just to have FUN and fun I had. 372 miles one way to Linda's on a Friday, sometimes not even making the field but all done for the fun. I know some people made some big (unexpected) sacrifices to support the Wilson's race. Military pay doesn't get you many things in life but me and the family made the best of it and had a blast doing it. At 40 yeas old, this is the beginning and end of my racing venture, other than being a spectator. Good luck to all this year and remember to have fun.

This years Mid-Atlantic (Southern) tour actually has 5 less races than last year.It is the Gulf Coast that has stepped up their racing.I am not asking everyone to leave their hometrack, that is why we are going to take your 14 best finishes in the Mid-Atlantic,10 in the Gulf Coast ,10 in the Empire and your 4 top National, weather permitting. We replaced Mahoning's National with Selinsgrove and Wilson's with Talladega Short Track which will be viewed by over 3,000 race fans.Caroga Creek started last year with 6 Slingshots and ended with 11.We are giving the NY teams a chance to get another National in the area where growth looks promising. The Hometrack Challenge was done in hopes of some race teams traveling to only 4 other races to possibly gain more points for the National then they would at their hometrack. You can only have 1 hometrack champion but there are other ways of getting National points this season.I kept hearing last year,we run the same tracks all the time, well the Weikel Tour is for teams that want to try other speedways ,broaden their racing skills. It is a compact 10 race deal that will give drivers a chance to go where we basically haven't raced before as a larger group with hopes that some of that regions drivers want to branch out as well.Scott said it best, this class is growing,we want to make sure that race fans see what we have to offer and the drivers in the Weikel Tour and some of the regions additions will give them a good idea of how good we really are. There is a chance a few of these new speedways will have press coverage more than just the racing paper or the websites.TV coverage no matter how small would be a big plus for everyone. If everyone supports their weekly track when the tour comes to town instead of thinking they don't have a chance, will make for better racing and a few drivers will definitely learn from their experiences.Thank you for your support and good luck no matter where you race and when you race.

If Speedway Entertainment wouldn't bother to put together a schedule, or should I say if they put forward a very small schedule then we would have racers on her saying that we are not supporting the class that we are selling.
It's a fine line being both the producer of the product, and the producer of the schedule, most race series, like DIRT, or the WOO, just schedule dates at different tracks. Keep in mind, they do not make the chassis, supply engines, parts, and everything else you need to race. This series is one of the few in the Country that is run basically all under one roof, along with the help of participating tracks who provide us with a place to run.
There will always be drivers who just want to run once a week, due to time, money, work, etc., we understand this. These events give an outlet for the drivers who want to expand, and do some traveling during the season, and meet other drivers from different states.
The 10 race Weikel deal is an awesome chance for drivers to go out and travel, but in order for Speedway Entertainment to promote this 10 race series we need to provide a guaranteed field of cars, otherwise what track, or sponsor would be interested in wasting their time and money?
I think we have put together a great schedule for the driver who likes to travel, and for those who do not, you still can run your regular schedule at your hometown track.
Peace Out, Slingitnow

this schedule is never going to be perfect for everyone. but i gotta give credit to mike and richie for trying. most other different series could care less what the teams want. i for one cant hit alot of the races but ill do my best to support the series.

I'm looking for some divers that would like to join me for a few races in East Africa over the summer. I might be able to spot some gas money for those that can make the trip.

Just be safe man I when I was in "Storm" you get blinded by sand almost every hour and them sneaky SOB's are ruthless, just do what I did Cover Your A$$, be smart and remember its only a job as much as it is sensless sometimes and you feel you shouldnt be there, but when the tour is over you can come back home and enjoy the freedom only we have here in America. Take care, see you in 08 I'll be thinking about ya!!
