Austin Fehr Finally Breaks The Ice But There Is No Chillin Taylor Eccles.
A extremely frustrating 2013 racing season for the Borgers 2014 Hoosier Racing Tires TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint champion Austin Fehr turned to triumph as he wheeled the familiar yellow 73 to victory lane. A year of playing catch up turned into being the “One To Catch” on this chilly autumn evening.
At the drop of the green it was Fehr, Jordan Tittle, and Mike Tidaback to turn one with Mark Yoder getting by Tidaback coming out of turn two. Fehr immediately showed his strength but Tittle was determined not to make it an easy job for Fehr to maintain the lead. As a torrid three car battle for second developed between Tittle, Yoder, and Tidaback Fehr increased his lead. As the tempo Tittle closed the distance to Fehr as he drove the wheels off his Dirt 600 Sprint. As the laps wound down Tittle’s left rear brake rotar heated up with flames trailing the white and blue ZT. Pulling to the infield on lap 23 Titttle’s night was over as was Mark Yoder. A very important note is that Tittle running the basic Dirt 600 set up was equally competitive and capable of winning against the TQ’s and Asphalt 600 Sprints. On the restart it was Fehr, Tidaback and 2014 Borgers TQ/Asphalt 600 Sprint champion Larry Hoagland in a “No Holds Barred Brawl” for the top spot. As the three duked it out Hoagland did a “Matser Piece” of driving skill as he got completely sideways on the backstretch and managed to save it without skipping a beat. Tidaback put the pressure on Fehr and momentarily got by Fehr with Fehr snapping right back taking the win. Tidaback was second followed by Hoagland, Mike fillbrunn, and Billy Proctor Jordan Tittle, Mark Yoder, Rob vivona, Pete Pazer.
There is just no stopping the Borgers 2014 AllStar Slingshot point champion Taylor Eccles as he added another win to his amazing 2014 season. John Bush, Eccles, and Kyle Herve led the field to turn one but out of turn two it would be Eccles once again in front. As Bush and Herve took chase on Eccles Chris Kurtz was on the move to fourth. On a lap eight restart it was Eccles, Bush, Herve, and Kurtz with Kurtz turning in the second fastest lap ever at Borgers Speedway and fastest of the night with a 12.4 second lap. The last three laps were a real shootout as Bush put the pressure on Eccles but did not have enough and had to settle for second. Herve, Kurtz, and Alan Hauptman rounded out the top five.
In Junior Slingshots Joey Costello held off a hard charging John Kendall to take the win.
