talk to a bunch of people and you get a bunch of different answers on where/how to measure ride height. shock travel, frame to level floor, different locations on the frame to floor, etc.
What is the proper way to measure it?
We've been going off the frame of the car (not swing arm) to the floor, and the rear height keeps changing. if I jump on the rear bumper the car frame pivots down at the swing arm and the rear ride height changes a lot. With the way the swing arm pivots should you set rear ride height with the driver in the car?
any help would be appreciated.

I never measure it that way either. Tire size and pressure can throw that off easily. I just take a tape measure and measure the amount of shock travel each shock has before it bottoms out. Its easier on the Bilsteins because they don't have that aluminum collar which is also adjustable. The coil over is always in the same place on them. So even if the metal part of the coil over is going to hit before the shock itself coil binds i just measure that. Keep in mind that even if you have the coil over screwed all the way out (tight/stiff) the coil itself will get into coil bind at max travel and limit your chassis from traveling. So always be aware that a coil bound coil measures about 2" if i recall which is travel you will lose in that case.

aswesome! Thanks so much for the help. I've only made 1 race so far this year, 2 if you count bug day. I have a lot to learn and I know most of my problems are just learning to drive. Especially since I grew up around asphalt (never drove though). But my thinking is all backwards for dirt. Anyway thanks again.
