For the second official year a local group of racers from various tracks looks to converge on the tiny, tricky Snydersville Raceway 1/8mile. The racing has been going on in late October and early November for several years before Bettler Brothers Racing and Miller Motorsports aimed to make an official event out of a day of sportsmanship. With Snydersville being one of the last tracks to close its gates for the winter season, it makes sense for drivers from all over the area to give it a try. Wheel twisters from as nearby as Borgers Speedway 10 minutes down the road to as far as Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park over 2hrs away will make this a one of a kind evening.
An unprecedented rules package will highlight this evening's activity. Tech will consist of matching engine/block numbers of the engine raced with those in the records at Speedway Entertainment. Details of acceptable time frame between rebuilds are being discussed. The selected finishers of the feature will be required to give the seal/engine numbers to be verified against records at SE to prove that the engine was built there and had work done recently. Pre-entered drivers will be able to receive their payout upon a simple spot check at tech as they will be pre-verified. Any late entries that are teched will have their payout mailed after their numbers are verified ok with SE.
No other items will be formally teched. Engines must be externally stock appearing. Any body style is legal, any part ever standard on a slingshot is legal. Any slingshot tire, shock, gears, bumper, body, manifold, air filter, steering wheel, spark plug, or tire pressure will be legal. (No grooved or altered tires).
This will give teams that haven't gotten their cars out because of shock/body rules etc... a chance to do so and others a chance to try that crazy setup or wild engine tuning.
The date is October 28th at Snydersville Raceway. If you have a legal engine here is your chance to prove the skeptics wrong. Rough driving, chopping, blocking and other hyjinx will not be tolerated. A night of fun and sportsmanship for all.

After discussing appropriate rebuild times it will be 2 years from the date of the race that work must have been performed at Speedway Entertainment. It is up to you to make sure your engine is legal.

That is correct. The latest "work performed" records must be from within 2 years from the race date.

I've also heard a few indirect questions.
Bodies. This is not an "open body" rule. The rule is that any complete former or current slingshot body may be run. Therefore, the guys with the 05 body that is no longer legal on tour or most other tracks will be legal here. Same goes for the two other previous bodies.
Engines. The tech for engines is simply looking in the engine compartment to make sure that it is a sealed Slingshot engine with stock appearing exterior. It must have slingshot type headers, muffler, tins, carburetor, manifold etc... they will not be measured internally.
Therefore, if you have a junk carburetor you'd like to hog out and try or a manifold/elbow that is already illegal sitting on a shelf for a rainy day.... its gonna pour on October 28th. Talking to racers and speaking from past experience i will say that Snydersville is not a horsepower track. Focus on setup, gearing, and driving technique before worrying about trying to put power down. There were many times where we have beaten known illegal cars there with our "off the shelf" slinger because of setup.
We welcome anyone who wants to try this track and have fun. Even if you have an engine that hasn't been refreshed for years come give it a try just to get the car out of the garage. The reason for the time frame is based on a normal rebuild schedule from Speedway Entertainment. We had to pick a time frame to keep the modified engines away as many of them have been resealed after being "altered" during a rebuild.

With high attendance projected we would like to attempt to park everyone on the same page. Typically the large grassy area near the main entrance is a good spot for us. Some spots may still be reserved keep in mind.
A comprehensive driver's meeting will take place with a clear but serious warning about driving technique. Remember this is not a huge payday race or something to send you off in a blaze of glory. We are out to have a fun night to close out many racer's seasons and allow the rules to be opened up to innovation.
Some Q&A thus far:
Can i groove and sipe my tires? NO, any slingshot tire ever sold by Speedway Ent is legal but they cannot be altered.
Can i run an aluminum wheel on the left rear? Yes if you must but keep in mind that there will be contact out there and they are expensive. Also cars must meet stock weight rules.
Can i run a "big" carb and manifold and air filter? Yes as long as the carb you are using is a stock appearing 2bbl carb it can be modified inside however you want. Any air filter that clamps on the velocity stack is legal.
Can i run any gear or flywheel? Yes. Don't over gear yourself right out of traction however...
Can i run all Afco Shocks? You can run any shock that was ever sold for a slingshot.
What is the weight? The weight will be enforced based on stock slingshot rules, 775lb... all qualifying cars will scale after heats and the feature selection will be determined.
Do i need a radio or transponder? No, Snydersville uses hand scoring. PLEASE take this into account with numbering your car and listening to the officials under cautions.
It was said before that this race has the potential to make slingshot history. This was before the entries started filling in. It now appears that this race will certainly make history as one of the largest late season, independent, open comp shows ever. YOU the racers have the power to determine exactly what kind of history this race will make. Keep that in mind as you take to the track Friday night. The weather forecast is clear and chilly. Rain Thursday night should have the track in fine shape as its usually like a pool table anyway.
Hope to see you all there.
