Okay fellas. Just mounted the bilsteins up front. How close do I mount the shock clamp to the spring. It was about an inch from the spring on afcos when I bought the car. I have a 60 spring on the LF and an 80 on the RF. Need help on where to put the clamp. Any help would be appreciated on here or email at seshleman@norleb.k12.pa.us
Thx Steve Eshleman

No clamp needed. The Bilsteins have the snap ring that the coil over sleeve rides on already.
If you are planning on just using the aluminum clamp on the shock with no threaded coil over sleeve i wouldn't recommend that. Just pay it up and get the correct kits for them to make your life easier.

Do not make the clamps to tight it will seize the shock.

Do not make the clamps to tight it will seize the shock. We found that out the hard way. Even after discovering that it makes the shock seize SE swore up and down that it doesn't. In our case we didn't even have them real tight and it made the piston get jammed inside the shock body. Luckily once removed the shock was free again.

The reason for this is that the Bilsteins are a single walled shock. Thus the reason they can not be clamped, damaged, dinged etc... otherwise you may find them even stiffer than they are already. The afco's although usually unreboundable out of the box were a much more durable shock in wall thickness and overall toughness. Its really pretty sad that so many people are already cheating with the Bilsteins as we may never know how they age for real since there is no way to prove that the valving has fallen off with age.

What are they doing to them? Taking them apart somehow? Or letting out the gas? I have heard some rumors of guys letting the gas out but how will they be able to tech that?

But how will they know if it leaked out on it's own or if it was done intentionally?

hey, I put the Blisteins on mine and the coil over kit has about 1" to 1.5" 's of play before the coil over hits the little ring on the shock body..... is that okay? I had a really hard time getting my car to turn in the middle of the turn and it was pushing coming out of the turn..... could this have something to do with it?
