the sleeve to adjust the ride height, the top hat, everything you need...just add your spring and mount it.
If your mounting it on the front, you will still need the extention piece.

Slingshot racing is a great PA class of racing, but everyone seems to fail outside of PA. The class is not the failing part. The class sells itself. Hearing my guys down here telling me how hard it is to meet all the new rules i see the problems with no solutions. If i got paid by Speedway to enforce the region maybe i could be a little more hard headed..
I go back and read all the post to find a simple solution and really there is not one. I agree with the new red seal rule, keeps engine cost down. I agree with people that other racers should keep their cars looking nice for appearance purpose. But heres the deal the Florida racers simply cannot meet the rule requirements on time for 2011. One post someone said just have local racing ...yes we can...guess what happens...next year more rules pop up that cant be met...then the region develops there own rules and cars...didnt Minnesota do that. The guys know this..they DONT want that to happen but think there may not be an affordable solution. The Florida racers travel all over to race each other. They talk they know the rules and want to stay legal. The issues i face is i am the only person to enforce the rules. The tracks dont care. The rule states must be an 08 body...Not one Florida track knows what a 08 body even looks like.. They just need you there..its that simple!! If they dont like what i say they race anyway...the track still takes their money..I get paid nothing. So when Rich implies a new rule thats meaningless i struggle to enforce it. Promoting a new area is Very Hard. Making money at it is impossible...When a rule like the shock rule or body rule comes into effect. Who is going to enforce it. Rich needs to put up the 2,000.00 to win and if you dont meet the rules then you dont get paid. You really think a track in Florida is going to call you illegal for a shock or body...nope ..because you wont go back. The racers have to pay a high entry to race to get back any kind of payout. Less entries less people less money...rules go by by. I worry, i am moving to PA and leaving the Florida leadership duties in the hands of one of my racers. He cant comply with the new rules...so how does he enforce them. If he enforces them how does he keep the racers. If he enforces the rules and promotes the Slingshot racing for Speedway Entertainment he knows the compensation is $0 but he still loves the Slingshots and what they are about. A good friend asked me how much did i get to promote and start up Florida...if you look at Minnisota i think you answered that question. The answer is i did it for the love of racing. So when a region cries out to Speedway on some rules that may need to be looked at....please take it seriously.....I'm trying to help true Slingshot national racing grow ..thats it

Here we go again the shock rule is nothing new everyone was informed about this rule back in Feb. already and if your running the afco's for more than one season your crazy because they don't last that long depending on how much racing you do I know teams that only run them half a season and change them cause they don't hold up the bilstien is a much better shock and will last alot longer and as far as the bodies go well if you don't know what a 05 or 08 body looks like contact Mike at SE and i'm sure he would send you a picture, that rule also is not new.

Slinger 7......i know the body rules have been around for awhile...i got an email on the shock rule last month....my point is times change...half the Florida racers were not able to attend this year because of layoffs or fired from their jobs...some just got back to work and started coming out to race again...I am leaving for PA because my job tanked along with my wifes...i'm a die hard racer...i do what i gotta do to get thru the week so me and my son can race and spend time together...and i happen to like the Slingshots. My point is my shocks are 3 years old and work fine and when they go bad i will replace them with the new shocks...but in the meantime i will do the best with what we got and enjoy the time spent with my son...3 years ago when the boat business was making money 2 shocks would not have caused me to post on the forum...times change and these are easy changes that can be made to keep very dedicated racers....lets face it the people still racing are the dedicated racers....i dont care who you are or where your from someone else on here has to be feeling the pinch beside me and has to be worried about giving up their fun and just making ends meat.....were not nascar drivers...and were not headlines on the racing paper...changing to make the pockets easier on the racer will save the current customers and bring new ones in a lot faster when things turn around. if you still need to tell me how much better the new shock is , i think you just missed the point

Florida Slingshots is the dealer for Florida and reguardless of the outcome stands behind Speedway Entertainment and the rules. Mike F. at Speedway has been more than helpful and Rich Tobias has been understanding in situations. I would not post on the forum in such a way to hurt the Slingshots but only to show my opinion in hard times. After racing in Florida for several years and in PA for several years i see things that many do not. Slingshot racing is really in its early of development compared to other divisions and i am only trying to keep the Florida region going and let others know the status in this open forum..these are just my opinions and the opinions of those around me

Taz i'm not going to get in pissing match with you cause it seems you have all the answers and know everything so all i am going to say is show up at race this year with the parts you want to want run and if you get DQ'd don't come on here and cry about it cause you and everyone else were told about the rule changes in plenty of time. And as for as my head being up tobias's butt maybe you should pull your head out of yours.

It appears as if Slinger7 has deep pockets... This isn't an attack on you slinger7, however, what would you say if tobias upped the registration to 200 bucks? Would you be all fine and dandy then?

So anyway, how much does it end up costing per shock to get all the correct parts to mount it?

I DO NOT have the price sheet from SE handy but if you are working with a bare car and not re-using/hacking together the afco parts onto your Bilsteins you will need the following:
4 Bilstein shocks at $78 or 80 a piece. 2 Front extension tabs $8 a piece. 4 Bilstein Coil Over kits $42/piece. Rear stud piece for swingarm 2 at $4 each. Keep in mind this is NOT counting the cost to a team if they don't know how to weld (possibly more if they think they can and it breaks somewhere and hurts someone). The front brackets need to be welded on and i strongly suggest also bolting them to the original tab for safety. The rear either can be tapped into the existing hole if you have a newer swingarm or weld a hex sleeve on the older style. I can't stress safety enough though and i am worried about what i will be seeing at tracks next year.

Wow, over $500 in just parts. And then you can't easily move the shock from corner to corner in combination with 2 afcos to try different setups. Pretty frustrating.

WOW, I have two cars with perfectly good AFCO shocks on them so that means by the time I get done changing over it could cost me $3000 to $4000 dollars for two cars, guess AC will be my last race for awhile. Has anyone checked out the NEW front bumpers and if so what are your thoughts, mine are first big hit new front clip.
