Can't agree more than with Florida. On the lighter side, Lets visit the old Flemington Sportsman rules. After 5 Slingshot wins you have to move up to a Speedster. Sorry just so frustrated by the whole thing that I have to make a joke about it.

Wow I remembered my password... I started reading this and was blown away, you guys seem really frustrated and I feel horable for all you slinger racers.
I think with the amount of racers and teams out there that someone would fully understand the rules. Talk to Mike at SE because if its not a tour points race you don't have to follow anything that is mandated unless you can't get the part any longer. You can still run the original body, tires and motor seals. Its up to the track to make the changes if they see fit and if it will benifit the speedway. In your annual home track rules meeting bring it up and see what they say, i'de almost bet that if enough of the slinger teams complain about things that they would give in. All the tracks that have tour races almost always exclude the tour races from the overall track points, so why run them at all? For the publicity, bragging rights nah the money? That can't be true when most of the tracks don't get enough cars to pay out fully the quoted purse.... Thats right SE will give you credit if there isn't enough money at the track.....
Its up to you guys to keep things within your means and I hope you guys get things worked out.
Keep the shiney side up, have fun and just keep racing..

Just got off the phone with Mike at SE and the rules are what they are no matter if a tour race or a weekly show. All tech personnel will be following the rule book which means 2 bilstiens,08 or 11 bodies and as far as tires go any SE tire is legal.Think of it this way if buy a new body its good for 5 years and the bilstiens will even last a whole lot longer you can possible get 5 years out of a bilstien instead of 1 year out of an afco so think about the savings over the coarse of a 5 year span.So you know what the rules are,if you go to a track and get DQ because your not following the rule book don't cry about it because every one knows what the rules are.

There are tracks out there that do not run by SE rules and don't get into inspecting the Slingshot I once ask about inspecting at Snydersville and they said no one cares about the slingshot inspection so we check your weight and safety equipment if it is up to date your good to go, They don't want to get into inpecting cars as they don't have a rule book or any one that knows any thing about slingshots rules.

We can't really complain about having to go with the new shocks, as we were already driving on 4 tired out afcos and were going with the new shocks anyway, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to continue to run old parts. If the newer parts provide any performance benefit, then you would see more racers being willing to switch to the newer parts as their old parts wore out. I kind of like seeing the old body style out on the track anyways...you know that car has some experience and probably whoops up on all the new cars out there.

I'm new to all this and struggled alot this year. I bought a (Nice) Used car and have had a blast. I agree with alot of the comments on here about past SE equipment...if it was legal before it should be legal now..If there is an availability problem with tires or shocks, etc...just quit selling them and go to a new one...eventually the old ones will eliminate themselves. Also my only beef so far is with these Bilstein shocks. Being a Spec class race car, they should be made, or a have a conversion kits available to be bolt on equipment for the Slinger. All this homemade fabrication for the spring cups on the ends is not the right way to go, and depending on peoples's "Fabrication Abilities" could also prove to be dangerous. I've been following this thread trying to find a good way to mount mine and am still at a loss.

I've been running the bilstiens since they came out and have had no trouble with the spring kits i bought, and as far as anything else goes the only thing that you have to change this year is the 05 body and the shocks, a new body is good for 5 years and the shocks will last alot longer than the afcos because the bilstiens are a real racing shock

Agreed. Except the first National of the year (AC) you can run any body you want.
