Second Annual West End Fair Nationals Presented By Borgers Speedway On Tap For August 26.
Eleven months ago Promoters Steve Heckman, Rich Raidline, and Richie Smith accomplished something that is unheard of in today’s world. While racetracks are shutting down at an alarming rate they created a new racetrack.
On raceday, in the span of 8 hours, they turned the arena at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert, Pa. into a high speed dirt oval and presented 270 and 600 Sprints, AllStar Slingshots, and Stage One Modifieds in an atmosphere of the Glory Days of Dirt Track Racing at the County Fairs which dotted the landscape across the USA. Over 125 of the best drivers and teams in the business performed to one of the biggest crowds for this type of racing in the country.
This year on Thursday August 26 “History Will Repeat Itself.” Winged 270 Sprints, Wingless 600 Sprints, AllStar Slingshots and Stage One Modifieds will take to the dirt at West End. The Fair Goers will be treated to a night of high speed action at one of the most anticipated events of the 2010 racing season.
In the words of promoter Steve Heckman, “We feel good about what we accomplished last year. It was a learning experience and some mistakes were made but we have smoothed out the rough edges and anticipate no problems. “ Rich Raidline added, “Our biggest problem last year was a miscue with the Fire Dept on watering the track. That will not happen again and we will be on time.”
Borgers Speedway will hold qualifiers, at dates to be announced shortly, for Winged 270 Sprints, Wingless 600 Sprints and Friday and Saturday Allstar Slingshots.
August 13 Lindas Speedway will hold a qualifier for the Winged 270 Sprints and Hamlin Speedway will hold a Wingless 600 Sprint qualifier at a yet to be determined date.
As the summer winds down experience the sounds, smells, and feelings of one of the largest and longest running Fairs in the United States the West End Fair. Take in the rides, shows, lights, and great food, and then head to the racetrack to witness the best Dirt Track Devils in the country Wheel Twisting at the West End Fair Nationals presented by Borgers Speedway.
