Eastman holds off Tobey as Caroga Creek beats the Rain.
Will Eastman driving the Jim Loux Trucking #120 had his hands full Friday night with first full year driver Brian Tobey. Eastman took advantage of his pole starting position to set sail at the drop of the green rag for the All-Star Slingshot 25 lap feature, distancing himself by a full six cars as the field steamed out of turn two down the backstretch. Brian Tobey driving the Rick Allen Motorsports #16 made a daring three wide pass heading into turn three on lap one to put himself second on the race track and with some distance to make up to have a shot at Eastman and his first career Slingshot win. Tobey proved up to the challenge. As the laps clicked off, Tobey began reeling Eastman in, and by halfway he was sitting on the #120's rear bumper. Eastman held a steady wheel as Tobey began sticking the bumper inside of the #120 looking for a way by. The two ran bumper to bumper with Eastman holding the lead but Tobey had the #16 stalking him and challenging the #120 every lap. A late caution for a mechanical problem on the #33 of Cody Ochs set up a showdown as the two headed for the restart with 8 laps to go. Eastman would lead Tobey to the green and hold of the #16 en-route to his second win of the year. Brian had a great run and brought the #16 home right on the bumper of the #120, John Smith had the #75 third.

Eastman admitted afterward that it was a great clean race and knew Tobey was there, saying he knew he couldn't make a mistake. Tobey said he was lacking just a little forward bite off the corners to get a good enough run on the #120, and although he could get along side, it wasn't far enough for Eastman to know he was there. "The only way I think I could get by was to physically move him, and that's something I didn't want to do", Tobey said.
