Bettler wins Hammer Down Dyno/Ellite Pool Service 30.
Snydersville Speedway, Snydersville, PA
With weather threatening and fall drawing in, a small but talented field descended upon the tricky 1/8 mile of Snydersville Raceway. The late season payout of $500 to win is largely unheard of by other facilities, not to mention each participating team being eligible for tow money, hard charger, and hard luck awards. The evening started at the right at 6pm with slingshot/kart warmups. Shortly thereafter a heat race saw the 29R of Kyle "Hot Rod" Rode on the pole next to the "Cornfield Cruiser" Kurt Bettler's 2B. Bettler used a strong run on the outside to take command of the heat race and lead all circuits. Rode had no easy task holding off the newcomer to Syndersville Eric Snyder in his 13 car who ran 3rd. After the heat race, the top 3 redrew their starting positions with Snyder on the pole, Bettler and Rode respectively on his heels.
After a quick visit to the Chuck Wagon for some refreshments, the field was set to follow the signals of experienced and loyal top notch flagger Bobby Stull. Snyder burst to an early lead but fought a loose condition which allowed Bettler's 2B to chip away until he passed for the lead on lap 7. The racing was clean and intense throughout the field as the 20 car of Mike McLaughlin moved around Rode. A last lap incident involving the 99 of Tom Arntz set up a final dash between Bettler, Snyder and McLaughlin. Bettler triumphed to take his second career win at what he calls his "lady in black", followed by Eric Snyder 13, Mike McLaughlin 20, Kyle Rode 29, Jim Conroy 64J, Greg Zellman 16, Tom Arntz 99s, Brad Crouse 8 Jr and Donny Hockman 8x.
The 64J of Jim Conroy took home a $50 Hard Charger Bonus presented by Kurt Bettler as he made the drive from 9th to 5th. The Hard Luck Award of $25 presented by Darin Bartholomew went to Donny Hockman who suffered muffler failure and left the speedway. Bettler scored a $500 Payday and paid back $250 of the winnings back into the purse structure which would include Snydersville's ordinary purse as well. This meant that with each driver earning at least an extra $30 to their winnings, a $30 entry fee meant each driver raced for FREE. The slingshot portion of the card ended at 7:45pm.
HammerDown Dyno Service would like to personally thank Ellite Pool Service of Hellertown and each team for showing their support for this event. Also a big thanks to Race Director Chris Kurtz and Snydersville Raceway promoter Walt & Polly Smith for making this an easy show to sponsor. It truly was a night of smiles and sportsmanship. On or off track politics and egos were not factors. This event was set out to be a fun evening of racing and for those who stayed home or thought it couldn't be done, once again Hammer Down Dyno Service delivers in a big way. First with the highest paying 7 car field in a track's history and now topping that figure with a 9 car field's outstanding purse structure of over $900, when the season fades and the funds run low. It’s no fluke, we do it big and we do it right. Race with Hammer Down Power. Hammerdowndyno.com
