When Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park opened in 2006, the Slingshots were one of the original divisions. Track operators have made improvements each season to the facility, the track, and the surface. 2008 has seen a very smooth surface as the track prep team gains experience. Despite these improvements, WVMP has seen miserably low car counts in the division. Other divisions have not seen this problem. We have some local people interested in buying cars, but they fear in 2009 the class will be dropped. I want to make it clear to all that WVMP is committed to somehow making the Slingshot division work and prosper at our facility. Our fans love the cars, and when there is a reasonable car count they put on a terrific, very competitive show. An increase in purse is definitely possible, but we must see consistent, reasonable car counts before that can happen. In the long term, we intend to add a jr. slingshot division in 2009. This will allow families that have two cars, one for their child and one for themself, to both compete at the facility. In the short term, this week we are inviting ALL SLINGSHOT RACERS to come and give the track a try on us! THIS WEEK ONLY THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY FEE FOR THE SENIOR SLINGSHOTS!!!! This week is also Race 2 for the Jr. Slingshot "Fountain of Youth" Series at WVMP. Next week, the Slingshot Tour will invade WVMP, and this is a great opportunity for teams gunning for that win to work on their setup! Ace,
The track in just west of Wyalusing, PA. We are "centrally located" between Williamsport, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre, PA and Elmira and Binghamton, NY. We can be in any of those places within and hour and 15 minutes.
The Sunday afternoon racing, although a bit warm in July and August, really is a good time. It gives the racing the feeling of the old days when families got together for a fun day at the races. It also cuts down on the late nights!
We'd love to see you at the track!
