Didn't take Doug Borger long to figure out Richie Smith. Glad he's not in Slingshots anymore. Most of the problems at Borgers a few years ago can be attributed to Smith. Borgers is a lot better off without him. Now just stick a fork in those Stage Ones cause I think there done.

What stake do you have in the situation?
Two guys with similar type race cars decide to run them together. Times are ridiculously close at Borgers which leads them to go to Kutztown. One type of car with less than half the horsepower and no transmission to put it to the ground absolutely EMBARRASSES the other type of car that has been running the track for several years on a consistent basis. This was after the creator of that division asked the S1's to change their tire compound and pressure to further slow them down. It was only after they were asked to further cripple themselves down to run a very hard tire that they have never run when things started to break down and the carpet was pulled out from under the S1's.
On a personal and business level i would like to express my support of Richie Smith. He has always bent over backwards to help our team out ever since we started racing Slingshots over 5 years ago. I think many people (including myself) were very impressed in how his cars ran in their first ever laps on that track and despite being severely under powered and inexperienced they certainly ruffled some feathers and hurt some feelings.

Taz, you really don't have a clue do you at least Richie is not out there driving one of his own cars and crashing all his competitors just to make an extra buck like someone else we know plus when you have a problem with your car he's one of the first people there to give you a hand.

Just an FYI. Last night Borger's had twin 15's for the Modifieds. The first 15 was won by a Stage One, the second by a 600 Sportsman. Richie had no problem letting the cars compete together. Shows you who is the better man here.
Also kinda funny how there has been no My Laps posting from Kutztown opening night. It would be interesting to see the difference between the times for Stage One vs 600. But as I understand Mr. Borger is keeping those times as much of a secret as the Pakistani's did Bid Laden's location.

So I've never been to one of these races where those 2 classes compete against each other. What (besides weight) do the S1's have over the 600 mods that make them competitive? Do they just get around the track better or what? Just wondering because the 600's have more power.

The S1's are "in the track" better in the corners. They have a better designed suspension. A sportsman 600 uses a restrictor plate of some kind. Which probably would have been the cheapest way even the field at Kutztown instead of having the S1 guys buy new tires for one track and a short season.
The short version: S1's corner better, 600's have better straightaway speed.

First of all Taz, don't know who you are if your a driver a spectator whatever, don't really care to have anybody put down another series just goes to show what kind of person you are. An idiot. I stood down at the Racing Reunion this past year and listen to Mr. Borger bad mouth the slingshots in front of all the people and lost all respect for the man. You just don't do that. There was nothing wrong with the way the Stage ones and the 600 mods were running at either track they ran together. The times were so close. But the times are top secret. Richie Smith came up with easiest idea to make the 600's alittle better by opening up the restictor plate alittle bit, but no Mr Borger wanted the Stage Ones to change their tire compound. Richie's trying to help. NEWS ALERT! A 600 mod won Saturday night at Borger's. And it was a good race. Like in any racing it takes time to figure out a set up when you change things that your not used to. Can't make a move after just one race. But I guess Mr. Boger knows so much about racing that he can see the future. You know after watching Mr. Borger himself race this year and watching all the cars he himself has taken out, I don't know if I want to put my car on the same track with him.

Another reason the S1's might me a little better is they have more rear weight percentage then a 600 Mod.Your looking 60% + compaired to 30 or 40% on a 600.All I can say is D.B. is acting like a little baby and saying I'm taking my toys and you can't play with me.

Taz, If that is your real name.... I'm not sure we all agree with your view of the situation. Seems to me we can all get along at Borgers and the 600's were invited to Wyalusing as well. Prior to and after the features Saturday night we all seemed to get along as a division (600's and S1's). There was no "there car and our cars" talk going on. We are d**n near equal like everyone has been saying. So stand up from your computer chair and look at the race on the track and tell me where the difference is . And as far as the slingshots at Borgers go ...... I heard at the drives meeting Saturday that the previous night race was equal to ,AND I QUOTE FROM MR. HECKMAN "like a bunch of bull dozers out there" How about that?

Yup, I was there on Friday (watching from the stands instead of racing). The slingers were very evenly matched as they usually are.
